How to study history texts – 5

Graphs, such as maps, tables, or diagrams, give more information about the text. Find the key points in the graphs:

  • What does the graph represent? Describe the topic of the graph in your own words, e.g. ”The table shows -.”
  • Where is the trend or development in the graph heading?
  • Look for sudden or surprising changes in the trend.
  • Find the extremes: the largest or smallest numbers or proportions.
  • Identify the differences or similarities between groups.
