In S2 classes, students learn about different text types, such as the characteristics of news, through reading, speaking, and writing. First, students read, and then they create various shorter and longer texts themselves. Models for text types are always provided to support students’ own writing. The level of detail in the model depends on the student’s language skills: at the beginning, students may have word lists, inflection models or sentence models, while more advanced learners receive a model for the structure of the whole text, such as the structure of a news article. The text is broken down into small parts according to the student’s skills. Students practice their own writing according to an appropriate model. Additional support questions or vocabulary may be provided for writing and reading tasks.
