KIELENOPISKELU
BASIC TEXT: Have you been to London?
Tim and Sarah are chatting in the school yard.
Tim: Hey Sarah, have you ever been to London?
Sarah: No, I haven’t been there yet. But I’ve always wanted to visit Buckingham Palace.
Tim: Really? I went there last summer with my family. It was amazing!
Sarah: Wow! What else did you do?
Tim: Well, we also visited the Tower of London. Have you ever seen the Crown Jewels?
Sarah: No, I haven’t but I’ve seen pictures in books.
Tim: You should definitely go someday.
Sarah: I hope I can go soon. London sounds like a beautiful city.
Tim: I can give you some tips on where to go and what to see.
MAIN TEXT: My home and neighborhood
13-year-old Max lives in Greenfield with his family. He has got an assignment to write about his home and neighborhood.
Where do I live? I live in a small town called Greenfield. It’s a cozy place with lots of friendly people. My house is on Oak Street, near the park. It’s not a big house, but it’s comfortable and feels like home.
I love my neighborhood because it’s quiet and safe. There are always kids playing outside, riding bikes or playing soccer. Sometimes we have block parties and everyone comes together to have fun.
My favorite part of our town is the park. It has a playground, a pond with ducks, and lots of trees. I like to go there after school to relax and hang out with my friends.
Even though Greenfield is small, there’s always something to do. We have a movie theater, a few restaurants, and a library where I like to go to read books. I feel lucky to live here. It’s not the biggest or fanciest place, but it’s home to me.
